      Background Information

PEMA (Proclamation de l’Evangile par les Médias en Afrique), also known as ACT (Africa Christian Television), is a Christian organisation established in 1991 to address pressing challenges in Africa from a Christian perspective, particularly among the 185 million people of the 22 French-speaking African countries. It is a project of the Communications Commission of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA).

It has constructed a non-linear digital television studio, situated on a 1,800 square meter property at II Plateaux, Cocody, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.  The studio was inaugurated by the honourable Minister of Communication and New Technologies in Côte d’Ivoire, Mr Lia Bi Douayoua in March 2001.  Since then, PEMA/ACT has been in contract with the national television station – RTI to broadcast weekly family program known as ”Et votre famille?” on Channel 1 and a youth program on AIDS known as “Miel Mortel” on Channel 2.  PEMA/ACT programs are also regularly broadcast in other countries like Burkina-Faso, Cameroun, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Togo.  They are also broadcast occasionally in Sénégal, Mali and other countries.  We are hoping that they will be broadcast regularly in these countries soon.
